BOTMDG is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Old Time musicians, callers, and dancers in a nurturing and friendly atmosphere.
BOTMDG is a non-profit organization that is run entirely through the efforts of volunteers — your help is always needed and welcome!
BOTMDG is one of the oldest groups of its kind in the country. Every Wednesday evening (no exceptions!) BOTMDG convenes for live Old Time fiddle, New England, and Irish dance tunes. Callers lead contra, square, and occasionally English set dancing. This type of dance has a devout and enthusiastic following around the world.
Our normal schedule is: a dance EVERY Wednesday evening – but check our calendar for any changes. We usually dance at Harmony School, but see the Monthly Calendar for exact time and location. Since 1976 we have had a week-end long dance festival called Sugar Hill which typically draws 300-500 people, and we usually have a spring dance festival called Mad Robin Romp. (Although the latter is still on pause because of the pandemic.)
After each Wednesday dance some of us go out for drinks and munchies. Each week a different person gets to choose where to go.
